Why Choose Velvet Hair Removal?
Hygiene
VHR has very high hygeine standards. Why is this important? Keeping the skin clean before, during and after the treatment reduces the risk of any infections and ensures better results. VHR will discuss the Do’s and Dont’s for your post-epilatory care to reduce the redness and possible swelling of your skin.
VHR is proud to use Apilus equipment for hair removal. Apilus uses patented technology offering higher fequency currents than other machines and increasing the speed and comfort of hair removal.
Patented Equipment
Less Pain
VHR uses equipment and techniques to reduce pain. As mentioned above, VHR uses an Apilus electrolysis machine, which is the most advanced equipment on the market, to make the treatment more comfortable for our clients. The VHR electrologist is also professionally trained by Dectro, the creators and manufacturer of Apilus machines. The training involves techniques to increase comfort levels.
Notice a difference quicker. Due to the technology and techniques used by VHR, you will notice results from your very first session, saving you hundreds, or even thousands of dollars over the course of your treatment. Be hair free sooner.
Faster Results
Aftercare
VHR takes aftercare seriously. VHR will discuss important information with you regarding your post-epilatory care. Not touching or scratching your skin, avoiding UV exposure, keeping your skin clean, not applying makeup or certain skin products are among some of the instructions. In addition to this, VHR also offers skincare products to help keep your skin clean and speed up the healing process.

What is Electrolysis?
Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved way to permanently remove unwanted hair from any part of the body or face.
In 1875, Dr. Charles Michel, an ophthalmologist from St. Louis, devised the first electrolysis system to alleviate his patients’ painful ingrown eyelashes. Dr. Michel’s method involved precise application of electrical current to the hair follicles, effectively destroying the hair growth cells and preventing further regrowth.
Over the years, electrolysis has evolved with significant technological improvements, but its core principle remains: targeting the root of unwanted hair.
There are three types of electrolysis hair removal: galvanic, thermolysis, and blend, which combines the prior two. Both galvanic and thermolysis treatments use electrical currents, but each uses a different conductor to create a different reaction within the follicle.
Galvanic electrolysis uses chemicals as a conductor. In this traditional method, the electric charge reacts with the natural saline in your follicle to produce sodium hydroxide. When the sodium hydroxide heats up, it destroys the follicle and the cells around it. It’s considered highly effective.
Thermolysis uses water and delivers radiofrequency rather than electric current. The needle transmits the waves at such a high frequency that it causes the follicle to vibrate, which triggers the surrounding water molecules. The motion produces heat energy, which then destroys the follicle. Thermolysis works like a microwave to generate heat. It is less effective for treating curly or distorted hairs but has the advantage of being much faster. It’s also best suited to finer strands.
Blend is a combination of Thermolysis and Galvanic current blended together in one treatment. This method produces heat, and the galvanic produces a chemical reaction at the root of the hair. The blend method is slower than Thermolysis but quicker than Galvanic only. The blend method is very effective when treating deep roots of curly hair.
VHR will discuss with you what method will work best to achieve the results you’re after. It may be necessary to use a mix of all techniques depending on the hair being treated.

Have Questions?
Frequently Asked
Questions
How long does it take?
It’s impossible to estimate. Due to the different stages of hair growth and the fact that everyone’s body is different. VHR will discuss a treatment plan with you during your consultation and ensure the quickest and most effective hair removal process. You will start to notice a big difference after your very first treatment session.
How much does it cost?
Please see our price list here. VHR offers bulk packs which will save you hundreds of dollars.
Does it hurt?
Depending on the method used, you will notice a warming sensation and/or a quick pinching sensation with the electrical current. Some areas of the body are more sensitive than others, such as on the upper lip. If you are particularly sensitive to pain, you may consider applying a numbing cream such as Emla before your treatment.
Does it leave scars?
No. You may experience some redness, bumps and some minor scabbing after treatment, but as long as you follow VHR’s post treatment care plan, your skin will heal quickly.
Is it really permanent?
Yes. Some hairs are more stubborn than others and may require multiple treatments, but they will come back thinner each time until they are permanently destroyed.
